Inframince is now on view at BRUTUS Rotterdam, as part of the group show Wild Summer of Art 2026 until 30 August 2026

The kinetic light and glass sculpture Inframince shows a slice of a crater-like glass landscape. The side-lit projection emerged through a chance discovery while experimenting with light and glass, revealing an undulating image reminiscent of canyons, rivers and lightning strikes, forming an elusive landscape.

The title pays homage to Marcel Duchamp's concept of the Inframince, a term referring to subtle, almost imperceptible transitions that illuminate and highlight often hidden nuances.

Nicky Assmann's spatial installations are in the realm of expanded cinema and combine cinematic elements with natural phenomena. She experiments with different materials in combination with light while leaving space for serendipity.
